Golden Administrator Award

The Association of Teaching Artists created The Golden Administrator Award in 2003 to encourage and to support excellence in the
Arts In Education field. The Award recognizes an Arts In Education professional whose talent, dedication, and administrative skills actively strengthen and support the role of Teaching Artists and the arts in the schools. The recipient of the The Association of Teaching Artists’ 2005 Golden Administrator Award is Cass Clarke.

Cass Clarke is a writer, poet and editor who joined Just Buffalo Literary Center eight years ago to advance the development of its Education Department.  In that time she has led its growth in programs, collaborative partnerships, research and evaluation initiatives.  Its award-winning Writers in Education program has quadrupled in that time, bringing innovation and research-based methodology in arts education to urban schools.  After earning her M.A in English and completing work toward her Ph.D. at SUNY Buffalo, Cass completed NYS certification requirements in English grades 7-12. She has served on the New York State Council on the Arts, Arts in Education review panel and as a field representative for the Empire State Partnership program.  As Education Director for Just Buffalo she is actively involved in promoting the arts in education field through the Coalition of Arts Providers for Children and the Western New York Regional Leadership Network.  Her work with Just Buffalo unites her belief in the transforming power of the literary arts with her dedication to supporting writers and poets and to making a difference in the lives of children.
