Courtney J. Boddie

Courtney J. Boddie is the Director of Education / School Engagement at The New Victory Theater. She oversees New Victory Education Partnerships bringing 35,000 students in over 160 NYC schools to see high-quality live performing arts, working with 50+ Teaching Artists in pre/post-show and residency workshops, professional development in the arts for classroom teachers. Ms. Boddie was a part of the Education Team when the organization received the Americans for the Arts Outstanding Education program award (2008) and a special Drama Desk Award (2012) for “providing enchanting, sophisticated theater that appeals to the child in all of us, and for nurturing a love of theater in young people.”  She is on the adjunct faculty for the Educational Theatre Graduate Program at New York University (course: The Teaching Artist). She currently serves as a Co-Chair of the NYC Arts-in-Education Roundtable Teaching Artist Committee; is a part of Lincoln Center Education’s Advisory Group for Teaching Artist Training/Rubric. Prior to joining The New Victory Theater in 2003, Ms. Boddie was Program Associate for Empire State Partnerships (NYSCA), coordinating professional development seminars for arts administrators, teachers and teaching artists. She was a teaching artist for Roundabout Theatre Company designing curriculum for high school English students and professional development curriculum for teachers. She received her Masters degree in Educational Theatre from New York University.
