  1. As Teaching Artists, we consider it part of our job to create safe spaces where students can create freely. We need to feel safe in order to do this. How safe do you feel when you teach?
"I teach in a different school almost every day. I can be in 4-6 different classrooms in a building in a single day. Do I now walk into each classroom and prior to starting a lesson ask for the school district's procedure if a lockdown occurs while I am there?"

  2. What are the expectations of the schools and afterschool programs where you work, as an educator/adult in the room, in terms of keeping students safe?

  3. Should Planning Sessions now include a discussion of safety and what do in the case of a lockdown?

  4. Should training for Teaching Artists now include preparation on how to respond when an active shooter is present?

  5. Is it now the responsibility of arts and cultural organizations to prepare protocol and facilitate discussion to prepare Teaching Artists (both employees and contracted) around issues of safety in educational settings and after school programs.
